Northgate Folk Festival 2024

August 24 @ 12:00 pm - 11:00 pm BST

The Northgate Folk Festival, presented by Choir of Outsiders, is set to enchant audiences at Alexander’s Live in Chester on 24th August 2024. This experimental and contemporary folk all-dayer celebrates artists who innovate within the realm of traditional music. With performances ranging from original compositions to bold reinterpretations of work-songs, the festival underscores the genre’s dynamic progression. Last year’s event featured a rich tapestry of talent, including Brìghde Chaimbeul and The Gentle Good, and this year promises an equally captivating lineup. Acts like Stick In The Wheel, known for their visceral live performances blending folk with modern sounds, and Frankie Archer, an electrofolk trailblazer, highlight the festival’s dedication to cutting-edge music. The bill also boasts Nick Hart, a multi-instrumentalist revered for his storytelling, and Mary Elizabeth Remington, a multi-disciplinary artist from Massachusetts. Additionally, unique performances from Goblin Band and dance displays by groups like Molly No-Mates add to the festival’s eclectic appeal. Set within Chester’s historic Roman Walls, Northgate Folk Festival is a beacon for avant-garde folk, inviting attendees to explore the genre’s evolving landscape.
