Bat, Moon, Womb by Tump (Alex Merry, Flora Wallace, Milligan Beaumont)

April 25 @ 8:00 am - April 28 @ 5:00 pm BST

On April 25th, 2024, Sacred Thing, a mobile gallery championing emerging artists, unveils a groundbreaking exhibition by the artist collective Tump in Stroud, Gloucestershire. The collective, consisting of established artists Alex Merry, Flora Wallace, and Milligan Beaumont, explores the spiritual essence and ancient history of the local landscape through their debut show “Bat, Moon, Womb.” Located in a converted restaurant in the heart of Cotswold, the exhibition draws inspiration from Hetty Pegler’s Tump, a Neolithic burial site nearby. The artists have immersed themselves in this historical setting, using techniques like automatic drawings to delve into its mystical past. Their findings are expressed in a multi-media display that reinterprets the site’s ancient use, incorporating art, relics, and live performances. Highlighting a fusion of historical conjecture and creative expression, this exhibit promises a unique exploration of life, death, and rebirth.
