Wassails of Instagram, a gallery roundup

Wassails of 2022: An Instagram Gallery

Looking for evidence of the rebirth of the wassail? Not that it ever went away, but here's a collection of some of the most atmospheric new images we've seen on Instagram this year.

There’s a delicious irony in the fact that wassailing, that most organic, communal of January customs, should be finding such a following on a digital platform known for encouraging solipsism, but that’s where we are. Welcome to 2022.

For those that don’t choose to ‘Gram, this post aims to round up some of the most atmospheric and celebratory wassailing images that we’ve seen this month. If you feel you might’ve missed out, bookmark this page (and our Wassail Directory) and come back next year to remind yourself of where you need to be.

Obviously, the photos and videos on this page belong to the people who took and posted them to their accounts. Give them a follow if you like what you see. We’ve embedded the images via Instagram, so if some of the pictures are blank, it’s because the account-owners have since had second thoughts and taken the image down. We’ll try and keep an eye on things and clean the page up in time for next year.

Wassail on!
